The best birthday gift ever

After waiting two months for good weather for our North Sea crossing (whilst living in James’s parents’ house purely out of their good will), James finally got a call from the skipper on Thursday night to arrange the flights to Amsterdam for the following afternoon. Some very good friends of mine were over from America for only a few days after I’d not seen them in over two years, so I couldn’t leave them to go along.

So James and the crew set off very early Saturday morning and arrived at our mooring on Sunday evening, just in time to deliver Hendrik on my 28th birthday. James may have missed the special 6-course meal and my birthday drinks, but he brought me the only thing I really wanted for my birthday, which I thought was going to be impossible only a few days before.
