I’ve been telling people for a long time that the addition is almost done, but is still missing the last vital component… and 3 days ago, it was completed! We were going to wait until February with the tax refund, but just couldn’t wait, and are not the proud owners of a 65” 1080p DLP HDTV! Got a great deal on it, another $150 off that plus no interest for 12 months. Had to go buy a new reciever since our old one crapped out last year, and got most of the surround-sound hooked up. Have HDML, component video, 3 TOSlinks and a 500VA UPS in the mail, hopefully arriving before christmas. For now, I’m using some audio cables as a temporary component video link and stuck with dolby pro-logic like it’s 1992 again, but still looks and sounds GREAT and we’re very psyched for football :D

None of our TV stands were big enough so we’re going to build a new custom stand from scratch. For now, the coffee table will have to suffice.

Finished the trim on the stairs and got it all decorated for christmas! Decided to go big this year, with an 11’ Christmas Tree. The french doors made it easy to bring in, and we have LOT of space. Only problem was finding a stand big enough- we have two that max out at 10’ and couldn’t find our in-law’s “commercial” stand that’ll handle trees up to 14” in diamager. Maybe we’ll get a 14’ next year?

All the ballisturs up and epoxied in place. We tried 2 different types of construction adhesive, but the balisturs still ended up loose. We finally retrofitted the construction adhesive with epoxy, which did the trick! Our house is not ready for the final building inspection :D
Still need to get the stair bracket trim on the side to hide the end of the riser & edge of the plaster, and a strip of small crown molding under the tread nosing along balcony, and the stairs will be done-done!

Was busy again today, templating in CAD, marking, measuring, sitting there with the level, and grinding, drilling, griding, drilling, etc. The drill bit overheats with the first cut, so I’ve been drilling a hole, measuring, marking, grinding the ballister to length, repeat.
Got all the railing balisters dry-fitted

Home Depot’s restocking system sucks. When we bought the rest of the stairs, they only had 1 single-twist iron balister. I went back today, and they only had 38. Unfortunately, we need 46 :( Bought 2 kinds of glue to see what we like best for gluing them in place.
On a side note, got the cable TV in the garage hooked up today so I could watch Penn State while working, heh.

We’ve been busy this week- got the railing stained and varnished, window trim, door trim, base molding and carpet in! So, the new living room, hallway and guest bedroom are pretty much completely done. I joke that the last thing we still have to do is install the 73” plasma :D
