Ms Dynamite

She only played three songs, but she's such a star, and so down to earth at the same time. I heart her.

Lo Fidelity Allstars

Nearly scrapped this in favor of new League of Gentlemen episodes, but I danced my arse off in a half empty club to tear-inducingly good beats. I had forgotten how fantastic they were live!

The Bluetones

September 25, 2002

Secret gig! My tenth time! 4 brand-new songs! Tiny venue! Hardcore fans! Of course it was worth it!

I only found out about it yesterday afternoon, but the Tones played a secret gig at the Metro (as part of Mark's "Down the Rabbit Hole" club night) last night. It was a short set, but wow, was it ever for the hardcore fans - not one single played!!

The crowd was fantastic - no jostling and very appreciative of thew new songs. And I noticed they never once said "We're the Bluetones" like usual, but instead had a little sign with "The Ferrets" on the drum kit. I wonder if this was something contractual that they couldn't advertise themselves as the Bluetones for some reason...?

And grabbing a setlist was the easiest I've ever gotten, too. All in all, a very enjoyable gig.

Last night they played:

Bloodbubble
You're No Fun *
Persuasion
New Song *
Carnt Be Trusted
Blue
Liquid Lips *
Beat on the Brat * [written down but didn't play it!!]
Fast Boy *

(with * = new songs...)

But, on the other side of the setlist is a printed (and much longer) one that I suspect will be for the two gigs this weekend. Test my theory! Here's the "other" setlist:

Solomon
Freeze Dried Pop
You're No Fun
Carnt Be Trusted
Home Fires
Sleazy Bed Track
Liquid Lips
After Hours
Bluetonic
Persuasion
Blue
Fast Boy
Beat on the Brat
Autophilia
If...

PLSC.4: Ikara Colt, Martini Henry Rifles, Father of Boon, & Blood Group

It was a boiler room down there, sweat dripping from the ceiling, and a suitably sweaty collection of bands. Father of Boon were my faves - great sax. Free mp3s at PlayLouder
