The Faint & Schneider TM

January 30, 2003

I've come to the conclusion that The Faint speak to something deep within my cell walls, a bit like Sigur Ros do, but in a completely different way. I actually don't have a choice but to go MENTAL on the dance floor. no, no, I mean MENTAL. I don't even think I could replicate it under laboratory testing conditions, and certainly not on an average dance floor. Iain was behind me and I think even he was a bit shocked. But it was easier this time because everyone around me was dancing, too, whereas last time I was surrounded by dead-boring Radio 4 fans (not that R4 are, but their fans were so dull).

And then on the tube home, the guy next to me had Danse Macabre really loud on his headphones, so I made a friend when he saw me tapping to "his" beat. ;)

anyway, I felt sore when I got home last night, like I'd done a big session at the gym. So I've decided that The Faint need to play London 2-3 times a week. It's my new diet/exercise program. ;)

Tiga

January 29, 2003

ok, so Tiga at Nag Nag Nag last night --

*SQUEAL!!!*

It was the best fucking time EVER. we queued for over 2 hours and were only in there for an hour, but it was worth every. single. second. I would actually kill and maim to get in there again. Iain said it best (I was at a complete loss for words, as my joy overtook me): "this is the club I've had in my head for years." blisssssssss. and, Tiga did the greatest transition the world has ever seen: Crossover's "Phostographt" into his own cover of "Hot in Herre". I nearly wept from pure happiness.

oh, and there were famous people - we met Erlend Oye and his buddy in the queue (what a sweetie!), Felix da Housecat was shaking it on the dance floor, and Boy George(!!) was flapping around in a big hat and garish blue glitter eye makeup! wow. and I don't even notice most famousities.

I actually couldn't form words leaving the club, I could only make these weird cooing and squealing noises. Joy that complete should *not* be legal.

Capitol Air & Nowhere Quick

January 03, 2003

A homecoming gig of sorts for Capitol Air, who hadn't played in the Harrisburg area since they appeared in December's CMJ cd. This was one for the fans, and we were rewarded with no less than six new songs, all showing the lads to be growing in the right direction, already miles ahead of their "Desperate Hour Extinguisher" debut. Here's to the Future!
