To sum up the LoFis last night: disappointing. They played essentially the same songs as they did when I saw them back in March (which isn't a bad thing in itself!), but they were just lacking the flair they usually have. I reckon they're probably (and understandably!) tired after touring for months here, but the set was just missing something. This may be because I'd already seen them play an AMAZING show before and knew what they were capable of, though. My friend who'd never heard a song of theirs until the car ride to the show said that the LoFis were her absolute favorite of the evening, and thought they did a good show. I'd agree with that -- it was a good show. Not great, amazing, incredible (or any of the other adjectives I usually use to describe the LoFis), but good. I managed to grab a set list: Intro (that's basically Warming up the Brain Farm) Kool Rock Base (note the atrocious misspellings!) Kasparov's Revenge Pony Pressure Battle Flag Lazer Sheep Dip Funk Disco Machine Gun Part 1&2 Bootsy Call The performance was REALLY short (about 40 minutes), and Pony Pressure was cut down to only about 2 minutes long (which may be partly due to poor crowd reaction during that one). Disco Machine Gun had some new twists to it, though: there was a great keyboard solo by Martin, finally giving him some well-deserved recognition, and the ending melted into some other bass riffs with new vocals. But despite being listed on the setlist, Bootsy Call was NOT played, which displeased me VERY much, since I'd seen the set list before the show and was really looking forward to hearing it. I came almost entirely for the LoFis, but Crystal Method and Orbital both put on amazing shows. The former had an incredible amount of energy, while the latter had absolutely stunning visuals to go along with their set. The absolute biggest disappointment of the night came, however, after the show. Wrekked Car (a girl from the messageboard), about 10 random people, and I waited by the busses for about a half hour to be told that the LoFis left sometime during Crystal Method or Orbital's sets. I was absolutely crushed. I'd driven 5 hours and skipped classes to see them, and they just left, like they didn't care about their fans. If I didn't know better, I'd suspect they were going all "rock star" on us. It wasn't just us waiting outside, though -- two girls I knew who were invited to this Philly show by Phil didn't get their backstage passes even though they were on the guest list, and didn't even get to see the lads, either. I hope the guys had a good reason for taking off, because it rather soured the entire show for me. melissa, who'd beginning to think they have a grudge against Philly, after canceling last month, and now this.
