April 95 Helmet ? (about 5 bands) None, really. It was my first concert, for free at Penn State's annual "Movin' On" festival. It was muddy, though... Hard to judge, since I was young then...
Sept 95 Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie Prick A HUGE K-Swiss sneaker with no laces for the wrong foot (I lost a shoe in the pit, and this one had to suffice), a bloody lip, black eye, and multiple leg bruises. NIN, definitely!!! Bowie, certainly not.
Dec 95 Green Day Riverdales Lost a sweatshirt. Laughed alot at 10 year olds in the pit being through several feet above the crowd's heads... Eh... maybe

July 97 KISS L7, 3 Colours Red, Thunder, Skunk Anansie, and Rage Against the Machine. British festivals are great. The crowd doesn't put up a fight at all, so you can get close, and you get good beer served right there. Yes, Yes, Yes. The pyrotechnics were incredible.

July 99 LoFis, Cystal Method, Orbital DJ John Kelley LoFis weren't at their best, but I got a setlist, stickers, but no sigs. =( for more. yeah, I suppose
July 99 Moby Moa Moa were horrible. Moby was pure excellence. And he drew two different cartoons o my cds, and gave me a kiss to thank me for coming. What an incredibly sweet man. *sigh* yes!

Worth It?
September 99 The Bluetones Lazybirds Met a ton of the blue army, and talked to Mark afterwards. Met Richard, and a wee bluetones fan, too! for more one million times yes. for popping my Bluetones cherry and more...
October 99 Mogwai Ligament Grabbed a setlist, nearly has Stuart knock me in the head with his guitar (I was that close), and spoke with Barry afterwards about bunnies. for more aren't nearly all of these worth it?
October 99 LoFis DJ set umm, a local dj Shouldn't have let the opening guy take over for as much as he did. Phil was much better and more entertaining... dancing was never so great
October 99 Stuart David & Looper Techno Pagan Octopus Messiah Stuart read, Looper played, then they signed "Nalda Said" copies, so Stuart and Wee Karn signed mine as we chatted. civilised setting, cultural event

December 99 Nine Inch Nails Atari Teenage Riot I went into hospital for 10 days directly after this concert, so I was completely delirious, and lucky (for my health) in the balcony. for more oh my yes.
December 99 Blur A-Sides ? Had a ticket, but I was stuck in the hospital with a brain inflammation in the geriatric ward (ie: in hell). Dan got my ticket. He said it was great. I'm still bitter.
January 00 Big Beat Boutique Si Begg, Midfield General, Dan the Automator, LoFis Still one of the best nights EVER at the Boutique. Life-affirming. for more Whenever you just NEED to dance like you don't care...
February 00 Moby --- A friend got me on the guestlist, so I got to meet Moby again and got a signed glossie. And to watch his mad bongo skills up front! always the adhd entertainer...
February 00 Bedrock feat. John Digweed Great music, but the atmosphere was just an upscale meatmarket. Really sleazy. music wasn't good enough for a tenner and the hassles
February 00 Fatboy Slim at Ambideckstrous Midfield General I actually enjoyed MG more, since the crowd got stupid and pushed to the front to see FBS, and he wasn't diong anything particularly interesting. *sigh* The Boutique always has my forgivness for stupid people.
February 00 Death in Vegas Ping Pong Saw Bobby Gillespie, danced my heart out, and got a setlist because I "was pretty". ha! for more Mr Gillespie alone would've been worth it!
February 00 Gorky's Zygotic Mynci Gorky's Zygotic Mynci (acoustic) Civilised *seated* setting, so I got setlists for both sets with no problem. Euros rules! for more woo! poodle rockin, baby!
February 00 The Bluetones Lazybirds and The Webb Brothers Got to see the infamous Firemen costumes, meet more Blue Army peeps, but once again miss the soundcheck by 5 min! for more if only they'd turned up Mark's mic!
February 00 The Bluetones on Lamacq Live --- The best gig of my entire life. An inch from the band, strictly only 100 people, free beer, a setlist, and meeting the band after. for more The best gig of my life. Period.
March 00 Brighton Rocks Clearlake, Mint, Oslo, and others Finally got to see a ton of local bands at once, especially Clearlake, who were very indie-twee. Support indieness!
April 00 godspeed you black emporer! Sigur Ros The most beautiful concert. Sigur Ros made the crowd weep with the beauty of it all, and godspeed made us want to get political. for more Seeing Sigur Ros leaves no-one unaffected.
April 00 Primal Scream --- The Strasbourg crowd sucked. Here is one of the greatest bands of our time, and they stand with their arms cross, pissing off Bobby. At least I got a setlist. for more The French don't deserve The Scream.
April 00 London Calling festival The Bluetones, Doves, Terris, JJ72, Autopulver, Broadcast, and Beulah Got a big setlist the Bluetones (and Mark spoke to me between songs), and was really impressed by Doves and unimpressed by JJ72. for more Bluetones played 5 brand new songs!
May 00 The Delgados Electric Music Their new material blew me away with the maturity from their last cd. oh, and I got a setlist. for more Converted all my friends to fans!
May 00 The Bluetones Crackout and Darkstar Saw the soundcheck, talked to all the guys several times, got my cd signed, and got a setlist (but gave it to a friend). for more If only the bimbos and rugby lads had stayed home...
May 00 Motorhomes --- Played an acoustic set at my uni pub, so I got to talk to them and also get a free album sampler cd. What a friendly band of Swedes! Such a relaxed and HAPPY band!
June 00 Glastonbury 2000!! Quick Highlights: Bluetones, Doves, Morcheeba, Coldplay, Ooberman, Beta Band, Badly Drawn Boy Camping in the rough, the worst toilets EVER, and the best bands EVER. Where else can you survive on bread, cheese, and whiskey for 4 days? for much more Now I feel I've lived.
July 00 Modest Mouse ? The Garage played host to the Mouse. Boys love 'em, girls hate 'em, and they bring their backpacks on stage with 'em. Didn't know any songs, but fun just the same.
July 00 Dismemberment Plan ? Upstairs at The Garage is even tinier! Travis is completely schitzo on stage, and nearly killed me with his keyboard! so much fun!
July 00 Big Beat Boutique Regular Fries, Midfield General, and Phil LoFi What a perfect weekend to end on. Fries shaking their birdcage-with-keys, and us shaking our asses for all we're worth. Long live BBB! When you just need to dance...

Sept 00 Travis Remy Zero Great show, fantastic crowd, new songs! yes, the nicest bands DO rock!
Oct 00 KRS-One Volumen Cero Free concerts tend to attract lukewarm carowds, but this wasn't the case. The real hip hop is over here! Damn straight.
Nov 00 Gwar ? So much blood, cum, and alien bile! How much fun can one person have with theatrics?? :) Music, no. Show, YES!
Jan 01 Aimee Man & Michael Penn -- Front row seats in a great venue for a very intimate show. Felt like we were in their living room. Aimee is one of the most underrated writers of our generation.
Feb 01 Doves The Strokes got a setlist and my cd signed by 3/4 of them. Stood front row in front of Jimi and had a great time. for more yes! even if my ears *did* ring for days.
Mar 01 Doves The Strokes fantastic! coolest 20s gangster setting, and we got free posters, to boot. I came prepared with earplugs! :)
Apr 01 Our Lady Peace some other not-as-good or famous bands Really fun set, a great mix of old and new songs, but the crowd was AWFUL. Somebody please tell the PSU students that crowdsurfing died with grunge!
May 01 Goldfrapp Tim Hutton The best venue ever -- Union Chapel in London. The best voice ever. Absolutely gorgeous. Got a setlist and lots of photos from the second row of pews.
May 01 Mogwai Bardo Pond Being completely jet lagged added to the atmospherics. I was so tired I couldn't stand.
May 01 Placebo Idlewild Stefan is such a fantastic showman. And the new material outweighed even the sullen, pre-pubescent goth fans. I only picked up a chest cold this time around.
June 01 Doves The Webb Brothers Fantastic! we interviewed the WB, had a storming show from them, but Doves were having an off night. Read the interview here For Webbs, yes. For Doves, sadly, no.
Aug 01 Radiohead The Beta Band Umm, it didn't happen. freakish storms flooded the ENTIRE site. lightning struck the porta-potties crazy. maybe if they would've played...
Sept 01 Apples in Stereo Q and Not U, Red Flag RF were good, local postrock, QanU were awful, and AiS were deligghtfully hyper and crazy. Yes, but I wish they'd played "Bird You Can't See"...
Sept 01 Sigur Ros Papa M Absolutely breathtaking. The most emotionally draining and simultaneously uplifting experience ever. For much more If I had my way, they'd be the soundtrack to heaven.
Sept 01 Tool Fantomas Tool were terrific, but the opener, acoustics, and crowd were truly, truly awful. For more I waited 6 years for that?

Worth It?
Nov 01 Haven Tetra Splendour Fantastic! A venue the size of my living room, and the openers were just as promising as the headliners! I feel so indie it hurts.
Feb 02 Weezer Ozma & Saves the Day Incredibly fun! I was taken back to the golden days of early high school with all the Blue Album tracks, and the new stuff sounded really promising. Geeky is fun!
Feb 02 Capitol Air Cactus Patch What? Good indie in Harrisburg? beer and music and central PA have never blended so well!
March 02 The Bluetones EasyWorld So good! I was just as pleased with the opener as I was with the headliner for once! for more yes for both!!!
March 02 The Bluetones - I got tix to this special invite-only Xfm Session via a phone call from the Tones management! weee! My 23rd birthday and The Bluetones makes for an unbeatable day, really.
March 02 ? Crack Village I went for the opener and had a blast. Their live show must be seen to be believed, really. Even the leather people seemed pleased!
April 02 Belle & Sebastian ? Like a dream come true. There was no way they couldn't done anything short of spectacular in my book. for a short review I was blissfully happy.
April 02 Lamb Telepopmusik Fantastic performance with their new material. Even the so-so songs came out vital and exciting in the live setting. And the aftershow... I only wish Dan was there, too.
April 02 Super Furry Animals Cooper Temple Clause The best crowd ever bopping and non-violent moshing to SFA's greatest hits, only 5 minutes from my house, broadcast on live tv! yes! (what's Welsh for "yes", anyone?)
April 02 Cooper Temple Clause Oceansize Unfortunately missed Oceansize and CTC were utter crap. An orange mullet, effects pedals, and strobe lights. Rawk can do better than this. no. (and it was free)
April 02 Kosheen Simian, Dot Allison, Telepopmusik I went to see Dot Allison, and she was the definite highlight. Simian bored me to tears, and Kosheen were far to d'n'b to be credible and likeable in my book. For Dot, yes.
May 02 The White Stripes Dirtbombs Didn't really know many of their songs, but I was told they're primarily a live band, and they were just fantastic, even with the odd droning song thrown into the mix. I felt privleged to attend.
May 02 Von Bondies Modey Lemon, The Beatings Great dirty rock fun! And celebrity sptting, too... For every once in a while, but not every day.
May 02 Tool Pablo Everything I wanted the first concert to be, and more. So fulfilling. For more There were moments when clapping and whooping weren't enough to express my appreciation.
May 02 Electric Soft Parade Leaves, Meloton Even though I came as Jonny-No-Mates, I made friends and saw some fantastic bands despite the Astoria's crappy power failure issues. I need to buy both ESP and Leaves.
May 02 Easyworld The Moonies Absolutely fantastic. They have the youthful exuberance of Ooberman, the melodic intuition of the Bluetones, and the rawk energy of Idlewild. They even played my favourite song!
June 02 Fischerspooner ? I've never seen a spectacle like that in my life. Costume changes every song, wigs higher than Marge Simpson, dance routines involving crotch shots, on-stage stripping, snow machines, wind machines, and glitter/confetti bombs, and Casey Spooner crowd-surfing directly over me. Did I mention the music was strong enough to support the show? I gushed for days to anyone who'd listen!
June 02 PLSC.1: 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster British Sea Power & The Beatings The first PlayLouder Singles Club gig, and it was a corker. Glad to see the Beatings on form, but BSP were my highlights, with a very creepy Ian Curtis-esque singer. First the first two, yes. But 80s Matchbox I did not enjoy...
June 02 New Order Air, SFA, Echo & the Bunnymen The weather was SO miserable - wet, cold, and windy. Echo were alright, SFA were acceptable but without video equipment, Air were atrociously bad, and New Order were amazingly fantastic in their greatest hits set. The openers were sadly sub-par, but New Order made up for them and the weather!
June 02 FC Kahuna & Hafdis - Crappy venue, great performance, and overly excited Icelandic pixie vocalist. Their first-ever live gig!
June 02 a-ha ? I don't really know much of their stuff, but it was at Royal Albert Hal and it was the perfect acoustics for a voice like his. I came away with so much respect for them.
June 02 Glasto! Major Highlights: The Beta Band, Ooberman, White Stripes, Coldplay... No rain again! Backstage frills! A crappy tent! For oodles more! Need you ask?
July 02 Tenacious D - I was very entertained for the first hour or so, and then it got to be a bit much. And immature. A sausage-fest of the under-15s.
July 02 PLSC.2: Crack Village The Darkness & Xan XanI enjoyed, Darkness I hated, and Crack Village were incredibly fun! Something for everyone!
July 02 Big Beach Boutique Fatboy Slim, John Digweed, Midfield General Unbelievable. 1/4 of a million people on a thin strip of beach and one street. We danced on flowerpots in front of The Grand. For much more I'm amazed more people weren't hurt in the melee.
July 02 Suede ? Fanclub only, apparently. I loved the Wheel of Suede to choose old tracks. and the after party, weee! Nice to have the set split between new & old!
July 02 Idlewild - It was an Xfm session in a small venue, so the new songs sounded even better than on the album, which was no mean feat. The best I've seen them!
July 02 Ooberman - A very early preview for "Hey Petrunko" in a tiny crap venue. New songs sound fantastic, and the maturity of the band has continued from their Glasto performance. I really can't wait for the album!
August 02 PLSC.3: Oceansize Martini Henry Rifles & oki-dog o-d: very good, but too short a set. mhr: too loud and not my thing. os: very very good, left my jaw hanging open on the last song. If you braved the flood for the night, you were richly rewarded.
August 02 Goldenboy & Miss Kittin Illustrious & Electric Stew DJs A schitzophrenic door policy and a huge amount of industry types couldn't ruin a night like this. Anthems all around. The Kittin - she's tiny!
August 02 Interpol AMP Revelation - Interpol's singer may sound like Ian Curtis, but he's a fox. And the band are tight like a, err, tightrope (ok, I was going to say "little girl", but that's just too messed up) on stage. Good, good things. I felt in the presence of great and historic events.
August 02 Peaches - Finally got a chance to see her live, and she was just as dirty and shameless as on record. *mwah* "Suckin on my titties..."
September 02 PLSC.4: Ikara Colt MHR Father of Boon & Blood Group It was a boiler room down there, sweat dripping from the ceiling, and a suitably sweaty collection of bands. Father of Boon were my faves.
September 02 PLSC.InTheCity: The Darkness, The Raveonettes Saint Rose & Embryon Only caught the first half, but much enjoyment was had amongst the industry twattery. shame I missed the Raveonettes...
September 02 The Bluetones ? Secret gig! My tenth time! 4 brand-new songs! Tiny venue! Hardcore fans! Of course!
Setember 02 Lo Fidelity Allstars ? Nearly scrapped this in favor of new League of Gentlemen episodes, but I danced my arse off in a half empty club to tear-inducingly good beats. I had forgotten how fantastic they were live!
September 02 Ms Dynamite - She only played three songs, but she's such a star, and so down to earth at the same time. I heart her.
October 02 PLSC.5: Blank Space J. Xaverre, The Chap The Chap were fun and quirly, J. Xaverre was god but would've been better with a full band, and Blank Space would've been perfect if they hadn't done the pretentious encore. And free mp3s!
October 02 Electric Soft Parade Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster They actually played in reverse order at the Q Awards Launch Party, but since it was early evening, they gave ESP the bigger audience. I forgot how much I love ESP and I love EMBLD more and more with each listen
October 02 Gonzales - A secret gig directly after the Q Awards, and Gonzales and Mignon were fantastic in all their tracksuitted glory. So close he was sweating on me... I'm so pleased I finally got to hear Take Me To Broadway in the flesh!
