Cactus Patch "Catcus Patch"

Fantastic, catchy indie-emo-pop things from yet another PA band. (I know, I know). Look for them on a large indie label in your local mini mall soon. happily.

Campag Velocet "Vito Satan" (UK import)

Last time I buy a single without hearing it first. At least there was a remix of 'Bon Chic Bon Genre' on there. "S&M.... It's a Badger!"

Capitol Air "Desperate Hour Extinguisher"

I'm amazed at the growth from the demos. They really have captured their best performances here, and after hearing an early mix of the album, I wasn't expecting a huge improvement with the official release, but I was wrong. Just that little bit brighter, more dynamic, and sharper. Amazing.

Capitol Air "demo"

They're going big places. I love 'Traverse City', and 'Phony' is just fantastic. Now if I only knew what they were saying...

Cardigans, The "Gran Turismo"

I hated Lovefool (so do they, I hear), never thought I'd buy one of their cds. But they've redeemed themselves with this one, it's a definite keeper...

Cat Power "The Covers Record" (UK import)

I love Chan Marshall's voice. It's so calming and cathartic, and peaceful. It's a crime that she has so many demons. I will forever love 'Satistfaction', and 'Sea of Love'.

Cat Power "You Are Free" (UK promo)

Her earlier "Covers Record" really struck an emotional chord with me, but it's in this album that Chan finally breaks beyond the lounge-core and finds drums, beats, and well, more guitars than just her own. This will be known as her crowning glory, and deservedly so.

Catatonia "International Velvet" (German Import)

Another great used find. I already knew the songs for about 6 months, had a few on mp3, and I've seen videos and live clips, but it was just a matter of time before I got it myself. I love I Am The Mob, International Velvet, and Don't Need The Sunshine.

Catherine Wheel "Judy Staring at the Sun" (promo)

I really liked the CW album my brother had, so I picked this up, and it's really great. Tanya Donnelly really adds to it, too.

Cds I Own (homemade)

A non-illegal cdr, truly! You see, I can only take a limited number of cds to england with me, and so I consolidated some cds with only one great song onto this compilation... HM

Certain Damage vol.68 (promo)

2 cd edition! Has old Ash, Sparklehorse, Catherine Wheel, Moloko, Mysteries of Life, Candlebox, and Stabbing Westward. weee for me.

Certain Damage vol.74 (promo)

Got it for Underworld, but I was ecstatic to rediscover the Ryan Downe song I loved a few years back! whatever happened to him, anyway?

Certain Damage vol.83 (promo)

I picked this up at the station for the Lionrock song, but it also has Teenage Fanclub and Symposium on it...

Chess

A very different kind of musical, too bad it sounds like it's from the 80's. NR (See Jesus Christ Superstar)

Chevelle "Point #1"

Got this because I loved the video for "Mia", in a very Tool "Sober" kind of way. This sounds alot like early Tool, but also with a bit more punk/rock influences.

Chungking "We Travel Fast" (UK promo)

Chungking are the only band around attempting to revive the lounge/jazz movement, and it doesn't hurt that Jessie Banks has more in common with Marlene Deitrich than Courtney Love. Instantly captivating, her voice flows like honey into the atmosphere around you. No one makes music like this anymore - sublime, breathtaking, soulful, and coy. Just don't dare call it "chillout".

Church of Enlightened Melody and Creative Drumbeat "volume three" (homemade)

Put a lot of KCRW performances on here, along with other random songs I liked. And I even had room to put the game Worms on the cd-rom bit of it! =) HM

Church of Enlightened Melody and Creative Drumbeat "volume two" (homemade)

Smushed a ton of my favorite mp3s onto a cd. But before you judge me, most of them are from imports that I can't get here, like the new Travis single, and live covers from Placebo... HM

Clearlake "Cedars" (UK promo)

I saw Clearlake at a local band showcase in Brighton in 2000. They were indie to the extreme, but so fragile and pastoral that you instantly wanted to protect them from the seedy side of the world. "Cedars" finds a more mature Clearlake - broader melodies, orchestral inflections, and Jason's voice thickened so no trace of his earlier reediness remains. It sounds like they didn't need protecting afterall.

Clearlake "Lido" (UK import)

I'd heard most of the songs on Radio One and various comps before the release, but it was my luck to find this 'budget priced', and frustratingly a whole year after I'd seen them live for a fiver in Brighton. Very good indie melodies, but perhaps a bit TOO English, that's all.

Cliff, Jimmy "Fantastic Plastic People" (UK import)

He's an absolute legend, but it was all a bit before my time... This is a definite update of the reggae sound, which was beginning to get very stagnant indeed. Even the tribute to the World Trade Center isn't half bad!

Coldplay "A Rush of Blood to the Head" (UK import)

I didn't want to like this album. I can't quite pinpoint why I'd gone off Coldplay after the first album, well, because I really liked it, even though I outgrew it quickly. The first time I heard the material off this album at Glastonbury 2002, though, I apoligised completely and confessed my awe and love for them once more.

Coldplay "Brothers and Sisters" (UK import, ltd ed 2500)

This is the first Fierce Panda single, and the second release ever from Coldplay, and it's brilliant. 'Only Superstition' lives in my head.

Coldplay "Parachutes" (UK import)

It's been a LONG time since I've heard a debut album this strong. And a fantastic, confident live show to match, as well.

Coldplay "Shiver" (UK import)

Bought this while I was trying (in vain) to find their Blue Room EP, and I discovered this great song instead.

Coldplay "The Blue Room EP" (UK import)

By now, I'm racking up Coldplay rarities like they're candy. In this case, "look Ma, we can sound like Radiohead" rarities, but rarities nonetheless. And I have to admit, 'Bigger Stronger' and 'Such a Rush' are great in their own right.

Coldplay "The Scientist" (UK promo)

I was so pleased to hear this was the next single off their fantastically good second album, as it was my favourite and I just love it when the best are shared with the radio folk!

Collective Soul

Why don't they play "Smashing Young Man"?? It is sooo much better than the crap they play off it now. Call the DJs and request! (because of the other crap)

Contempo "U B Naughty" (UK import)

I won this. It's pretty much crap.

Cornershop "When I Was Born for the 7th Time"

I love Sleep on the Left Side and Candyman. Brimful of Asha grew on me. such Indian grooves.

Counting Crows "August and Everything After"

One of the few bands today who can actually sing. I absolutely love 'Anna Begins'

Crack Village "Deep Penetration" (UK promo)

The first time I saw them, they ere novelty costumes and mimed fellatio on stage. Good attention-getter, but it would've meant nothing is the music wasn't there. This is one of the best singles to come out all year, and just goes to show that first impressions aren't everything they seem.

Cranberries "Bury the Hatchet"

No matter how big they've become, they can still put out realy solid tunes, and with Dolores' voice, she can carry off every one. Desperate Andy is an immediate hit, as is Promises, and Just My Imagination.

Cranberries "No Need to Argue"

I liked their first one better (I have it on tape). I don't really listen to this much.

Cranberries "To the Faithful Departed"

I absolutely love this cd! It's great, and they kick much more ass than they ever did before. I've had 'I Just Shot John Lennon' in my head for weeks!

Crossover "Fantasmo" (UK import)

There's no logical reason why I love this album as much as I do. Sure, it's brilliant electroclash with inventive lyrics sung by twin braggarts, but there's something more.
I've played it to the point that my housemates threaten to ban it, but I still can't get enough of it. Months later, and I'm still repressing the urge to dance on the bus when it's on my walkman. Let's hope it stands up after the cd wears out in under a year...

Crow (Soundtrack)

A great Soundtrack! It's fitting that it goes with such a kicking movie!

Crow: City of Angels (Soundtrack)

Pretty great! It amazes me that groups I normally hate have such good songs on this album (they probably didn't write them). And there are great pictures in the cd book... Too bad the movie was such an abomination...

Crystal Method "Vegas" (UK import)

Found this very cheap, and I've always loved 'Comin Back'. Reminds me of their concert.

the C-60s

Fun, summer music I grabbed from the station. Nothing really standout, but not bad, either.
