D4 "6Twenty" (UK promo)

oh, those boys with their guitars! will they ever grow up? (hopefully not)

DJ Rap "Bad Girl"

I saw her live in Brighton last year, and she was just so fantastic that I grabbed this in a bin when I saw it. Quite good, but I like the original mix the best.

Dandelion "Dyslexicon"

It's pretty much average Alternative. Some of the songs are pretty good, though.

Day One "Ordinary Man sampler"(UK promo cdr)

Really liked some of the tracks, but I think a whole album would be too much for me. Quite good live, but I'm not that into spoken word.

Death in Vegas "The Contino Sessions" (UK import, ltd ed)

Intelligent dance music got a revival with this album, and the Primal Scream's "XTRMNTR". Richard Fearless got it right, from ugly, angry tracks, to the softest, gentle 'Dirge'.

Deconstruction Presents (promo)

This compilation has a ton of electronic songs on it from 1997. Some bad, some good, som extra-good, like Death in Vegas's "Dirt".

Deeble, Robert "Earthside Down"

I discovered this at the radio station, but no one else agreed with me. It's quiet, introspective indie, reminiscent of some Sparklehorse tracks. And the art is just plain fitting, with velim paper and sepia photos.

Deftones "Change" (promo)

I'd heard alot about "White Pony" from various music magazines, and I wanted to hear for myself. I'm not instantly attracted to it, but I'm not turned off, either.

Delakota "1 Love" (UK promo)

I had a remix of 'C'Mon Cincinnati' on a compilation, and I wanted to hear the original. Even better, though, is 'I Thought I Caught'.

Delgados "Coming In From The Cold" (UK import)

This wasn't my first choice for the single after hearing the album, but I think Emma's sugary sweet vocals over biting and depressing lyrics definitely gives the right impression for the rest of the album.

Delgados "Domestiques"

sounds alot different than Peloton, but the Glaswegan sound has yet to disappoint. Their music sounds somewhat like Bis, but with better, less poppy vocals. Strathcona Slung is the masterpiece of here, no matter what John Peel says.

Delgados "Hate" (UK promo)

I love that a band I've followed from the beginning gets increasingly wonderful with each release. It happened with the Super Furry Animals, and it's happening with The Delgados. This is by far their best release, and it's been my joy for weeks on end. I can only hope they continue the upward trajectory!

Delgados "Peloton"

I got an advance US copy, and it's great. They've really reached a mature balance here. They've kept the guitars and melodies, but added harmonies and Belle and Sebastion-esque lyrics.

Delgados "The Great Eastern" (UK import)

After seeing them live, I needed to get this cd asap. They completely grew up with this album, and the touch of Dave Friedman shows. The Delgados just keep getting better and better.

Devlin, Diane

A friend from high school plays guitar for her, and he sent me this EP to play on the station. She's a singer/songwriter, but not at all Lilith Fair-y.

Dido "Here With Me" (promo)

Arista was giving them out for free at the Beth Orton concert, and I was so pleased to have heard of her, since we got an EP of hers at the readio station...

Dido "Highbury Fields EP" (promo)

Haven't picked up her album yet, but I found this gem in a bin at the radio station, and it has a good selection of songs from her "No Angel" album.

Dismemberment Plan "Emergency & I"

I saw them live in London, and two songs stuck in my head: 'What Do You want Me to Say?' and one where Travis attacked his tongue with a 9-volt: 'Girl O'Clock'.

Dog's Eye View "Daisy" (promo)

Average alternative. not bad, but nothing really stands out, either. has some decent multimedia content, at least.

Double Take

A way to amuse myself and avoid creating a string of identical mixed cds, I made this one have two songs from each artist back-to-back... HM

Doves "Lost Souls" (UK import, signed)

I was blown away by their performance in Amsterdam, and this album completely grows on you. 'The Cedar Room' is possibly the best song of 2000.

Doves "The Last Broadcast" (UK import)

I don't think any album has ever had the same effect on me upon th first listen. So instantly epic and memorable and addictive, but yet so quietly ambitious. Love at first sight and thereafter. I felt privileged to buy it the day of release.
Don't let this pass you buy. It'll make you a better person.

Drugstore "El President"

Free from the station, but for a Thom Yorke track, I'd pay anything. He makes this song golden, in spite of the band.

The Best Dance Album in the World...Ever! 2000 (UK import)

This 2-cd set has every dance song I couldn't avoid while I was in England. Completely a guilty pleasure, but at least I'm not alone: Scott has it, too.

The Delgados "All You Need Is Hate" (UK import)

As close to a title track as their album "Hate" gets, the single reminds you of the best parts of The Delgados - the sweeping melodies, the strength of having not one but two fantastic singers, and at their heart, a dark and twisted core. Oh, and apparently a love of soft rock (they cover 'Mister Blue Sky'!)

dEUS "In a Bar, Under the Sea"

Heard about these belgium wonders from the Portishead list. Not trip hop, but good rock.
